Today’s weather around the US

Here’s a look at noteworthy weather conditions around the country…

Central US

Through the nation’s midsection, there is a cold front descending from Canada that will bring cooler conditions to the Midwest, although warm and humid air will be prevalent.

As the cold air will moves eastward into the evening and overnight hours, mixing with warmer air, it will bring a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms through northern Texas, into Oklahoma and Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, especially in the evening to overnight hours. The main risks are damaging winds and large hail.

Southeast & mid-Atlantic

A cutoff low, a large swirling mass of cloud anchored across the southeastern United States for several days now, is pulling in moisture from the Atlantic Ocean and has already brought a deluge of rain, will bring unsettled conditions over the mid-Atlantic and into the Carolinas on Thursday, bringing showers and a few thunderstorms.

This weather system will extend into the weekend, though not as widespread as earlier in the week.

Hot conditions through the four corners region, The ongoing fires have brought a lot of smoke and haze throughout the region, although changing weather conditions could clear some of that out today. Heat will be prevalent throughout the Southwest and into Southern California.

Northwest & Northern Rockies

The cold front coming down from Canada will bring cooler air to the Northwest and Northern Rockies, with some areas seeing temperatures fall ten degrees from yesterday’s highs.
