Most of the US will enjoy warm, sunny, and dry weather on Thursday, with the exception of the East Coast which will see thunderstorms that will also bring a flooding threat to the Carolinas; plus, today’s weather news and forecast.
Thunderstorms will extend from Florida along the eastern seaboard all the way to Maine on Thursday.
Thunderstorms will affect the entirety of Florida, southern and southeast Georgia, the entirety of the Carolinas, eastern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, eastern New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, as well as southern, southeastern and western Maine, while the northeastern part of the state will be mostly dry.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning for heavy rain with potential flash flooding over central and north-central South Carolina, and throughout central North Carolina on Thursday.
Some spotty, isolated thunderstorms will affect a few spots around the US today.
In the Northwest, scattered thunderstorms will affect portions of Washington, Oregon, and Montana.
In the Southwest, a few thunderstorms over the southern half of New Mexico will extend into the southwestern edge of Texas, as well as east-central Arizona,.
In the southern Plains, expect a few spotty thunderstorms over the Oklahoma Panhandle, extending on into northern Texas and southwestern Kansas.
In the upper Midwest, thunderstorms across much of Wisconsin will stretch into central Minnesota, with mostly rain and the northern half of the state. Rain is forecast for the northern half of Michigan.
