Pleasant weather today across the Northeast, rain over the mid-Atlantic, sunny and warm over the Ohio Valley, severe storms in the Northern Plains, hot in the central US and West, while a winter storm brings snow to the northern Rockies; plus, more of today’s US weather forecast.
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings over the upper Midwest. The storms will become more active as they ramp up later this evening into the overnight hours.
The affected areas of the northern plains include central and north-central Nebraska, central and eastern South Dakota, eastern North Dakota, and into northwestern Minnesota. Risks include damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Here’s a look at today’s weather around the nation…
Pleasant conditions in the Northeast will continue into the weekend, while sunny and warm conditions will be persistent throughout the Ohio Valley.
The mid-Atlantic will see heavy rainfall, up to 4 to 6 inches locally in some spots, as precipitation will continue in the region through Friday.
Expect lots of heat and humidity in the nation’s midsection on Wednesday. Temperatures will hit the mid-90s in many areas from Texas northward into South Dakota. However, with the humidity, it may feel like triple digits. Low 90s in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
It’s been extremely hot in the West and very dry across the Great Basin and into the four corners region and that will continue. The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings for portions of southern Arizona, where several fires are burning, as well as, for the south-central, southeastern and east-central portions of Colorado.
It may be hot in most of the West, but in the Northern Rockies, winter weather still persists. Winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect for the Northern Rockies where, in some of the highest elevations across the mountains of Idaho, Montana, and Western Wyoming, some regions could see up to a foot of fresh snow from this system.
