Heat advisory for portions of: Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire; Maine; Missouri; Illinois; Arkansas; Louisiana; Alabama; Oregon; Washington; Idaho.
Red flag warning: eastern Washington; northern Idaho; southern Oregon; northern California.
Thunderstorms will span across most of the Lower 48 over the next three days, drenching multiple regions with heavy rain and bringing the potential of flash flooding from the West to the Northeast.
Potentially record-setting temperatures in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast could reach the high 90s, with heat indexes forecast in the upper 90s and triple digits and over two dozen locations over the next two days.

Thunderstorms will cover nearly two-thirds of the nation from California to Maine, however, the northern tier from Washington to Minnesota will be mostly dry, while storms are likely over the rest of the lower 48.
Flash flooding in the Southwest is possible over Colorado and New Mexico, while in the Midwest, over Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. In the Northwest, possible flash flooding over Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. (See NWS alerts above).
Scattered thunderstorms over the Pacific Northwest, West, Southwest, along the southern tier and into much of the Ohio Valley, and all of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Heavy rain with potential flash flooding over parts of Southern California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah, much of Arizona, and West-central New Mexico, as well as in the mid-South and Ohio Valley over portions of Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.
Scattered thunderstorms over portions of the Northwest, West, Southwest, South-Central US, South, Southeast, Great Lakes region, mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Heavy rain with potential flash flooding over portions of Southern California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah, central and northwestern Arizona, as well as to the east over portions of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Of concern will be eastern Kentucky which is still recovering from devastating flooding last week.
