Winter storms continue across the nation today, as an ice storm will stretch from Texas to the mid-Atlantic. Farther south, thunderstorms and a threat of severe weather along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida are likely.
A variety of regions will experience snowstorms on Wednesday.
A diagonal band of snowstorms is expected to dump heavy snow spanning from Texas and Oklahoma, through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and into Maryland.
A large swath of the South, Southeast and mid-Atlantic is under a winter storm warning by the National Weather Service (NWS).
Here’s a look at some of the most-affected regions for Wednesday:
West: At least 11 states in the West are forecast to receive snow on Wednesday including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas.
Midwest and central US: Snow is forecast for portions of eastern Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Ohio Valley: Snow is forecast for portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.
East: Snow is forecast for portions of Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and north-central New York.
A wide, expansive band of freezing rain could bring another round of ice storms to portions of the South and mid-Atlantic on Wednesday. The affected areas include portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and potentially into parts of Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C., According to the National Weather Service forecast.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast thunderstorms across the South and Southeast for Wednesday. Along the Gulf Coast, from Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle, the NWS is warning of potential severe weather. A wind advisory is in effect for southeast Texas, southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
